...RVing...

...for Grammie's 60th...we gave her the gift any Grammie would long for...a weekend trip in an RV...all seven of us plus Marley....rented and ready...however, schedules delayed us...weather roadblocked us...and it felt like we were never going to hit the road...

...the funny truth of the matter is that all of us were a bit concerned...well, not all....Chase, Ava and Grammie couldn't be more excited...the weather never concerned them...the tight sleeping quarters, one bathroom and tiny oven were simply a part of the fun....

...but Papa and Daddy knew it was going to be an experience...one we wouldn't forget...
...so we loaded up on a Friday in March...

...and we set our sites on Meramec State Park...Daddy secured a perfect spot near the playground...
...this is the smile I saw from the moment he woke up that day...

...and a short ride later and we had arrived...the whole crew...

... and we packed warm, because although we finally planned a weekend without rain in the forecast...the temperatures were not too inviting...but we had a good use for Paxton's pilot suit, Papa's Gordon the Fisherman Jacket and a some warm Batman gear...
...there is something so warm and inviting about an outdoor fire that burned most of the weekend...although they were much easier to light once we got firewood...the first nights fire was a true family effort...every piece of wood was gathered by the family...who knew the park didn't start selling firewood until April...

...Daddy and the Russian Birthday Girl...
...although I guess I shouldn't throw stones in the warm hat department...
...there is something about spending all day outdoors in the crisp air..and gazing at the stars without the lights of the city.....that made the warm RV so inviting at the end of the day...

...and the sleeping quarters were such a novelty...to the point that we had to put some rules around them in order to get some rest...

...and the swings were a huge hit...we spent a lot of time asking for more pushes...
...these two enjoyed throwing rocks in the river...skipping them ..as they said...kinda...
...the guy kept Grammie indoors a bit...although something tells me she didn't mind...
...and with that, the weekend was a wrap...

...and although it has been a while now since I've got around to documenting...the memories are so warm in mind they feel fresh...

...the other point we didn't expect was that cell phones got very little to no reception at the campsite...and there are no way for me to put into words the feeling of nature, family and no interruptions for 48 hours...the word 'therapeutic' doesn't do it justice...

...but the really funny part is that there is a good chance that Daddy and Papa had the best time of any one...they gathered and tended to the fire non-stop...they enjoyed one of their favorite Italian meals on the trip...they explored and stayed up late talking and even napped next to the fire during the day...well, one more than the other on that...

...and we all said to ourselves over and over, we only have to do this once, we only have to do this once...

...but I have to tell you...there are more than one person in the family asking for another trip in a camper...
