...Paxton Bailey is One...
...when I think about the last year, in some ways, it has flown...and in some ways, I cannot remember life without my Paxton...without my six month break from work...without my connection to my family that has only come with knowing that our family is complete...
...and our littlest one is making his mark on everyone in this family...and getting around quicker and quicker by the day...
...little bubba needed a haircut long before he got one...but the Birthday Party was finally reason enough to get him in for a trim...and it is a far cry from flying him to Florida like we did for his brother's first cut...but this little guy gets so much attention...he doesn't need all the extravagance...or at least that is what I tell myself...
...and just like everything else, my laid back, third born didn't really mind the cut...he was brave enough to sit on his own and managed to stay calm through the whole thing...minus the part where she trimmed some skin on his ear...I only wish I was kidding....
...because his party was the weekend after his actual Birthday, he got his first taste of cake on the 365th day of life...and he enjoyed it...just like every other food he tries...
...and then it was time to get dressed up for the real party...
...Daddy had just arrived home after 11 days gone...snow was in the forecast and we had a small, intimate crew for chili and cake...and we were in love with the cake...and it looked even better before an older sibling took a bite out above the O...

...he looks more serious than he ever is...
...although when it comes to him and food...I guess serious is a word you could use to describe it...
...and he soaked up the love, presents and fun while we celebrated him...
...and at 12 months...he loves to pull up and toddler around...babble mostly made up words outside of, A-da, which is his version of Dada...he loves to eat...breads and crackers are his favs...he has about six teeth and is sick every other week...he loves to smile and giggle and loves one on one attention...
...and I'm laughing just re-reading this post...the life of a third child...your milestones are less structured...your parties are smaller....and less formal...your days less documented...your memories are fuzzier in the chaos of other children...
...but...oh, but... the love for you is so much sweeter because it is so abundant in a family of five... you enjoy with less stress...you smile and laugh with less fuss...you are the capstone to this family and you are cherished as the last for all the firsts...
...so yes, your arrival has worn us all out in a new way we never dreamed...but your departure from babyhood is perhaps the most bittersweet of them all...
...thank you, Lord, for the blessing of my sweet, sweet Paxton Bailey...
...Happy Birthday My Baby...
