...sunshine and good times....
....summer means a break in schedules...a break in sports (kinda)....and a chance to take in the sunshine....and Daddy did just that walking Chase to his last day of First Grade....
...and the last day is fun and field day....a half day filled with snow cones, bounce houses and fun....
...before Dad gets you from your half day and puts you to work....
...and then rewards with jeep rides and slushies....and when summer fun is truly unleashed and this family hits the river....
...and the feeling of the river is like none other for us...it is a place for us to truly unwind...no chores to be done and intermittent cell phone service mean that we chat, we sing songs...we catch up on how each other is really doing....
...and we enjoy natures wonders....like wind in our hair....sun on our back....and the magnitude of the rushing water and the major thoroughfare that is the Mississippi...with barges coming and going...we take it all in....
...and those long days of conversations and fun...and swimming and snacking...and soaking up the moments of our party of five.....yep, they wear us all out....
...there are few things I like better than sleeping with all my babies close to me....to be clear, not in my bed, no, with their own spaces...but having all my babies in my nest is one of lifes greatest pleasures for me...it's one of the few times where I can really let my worries fade away with the ripple of the tide....
...and slowly wake up together...with a cup of coffee and the sun peering in behind the curtains...just to wake and take boat rides with these two at the helm....just because....
...and end of school year also means backyard swimming and we love doing that with friends....
...and impromptu sleepovers are a great way to kick off summer....
....swimming with Grammie and Papa is a great way to spend Memorial Day....
...it is so funny because we always tell the kids that things just were not like this when we were growing up...that they are so very lucky....yet, we both look back so fondly at our childhoods...so it will be interesting to see what their kids have....
...but having Grammie and Papa right down the road is surely something we didn't have growing up and they are so lucky to have so much love so very close to them....and so are we....it takes a village with this crazy clan....
...who knew fidget spinners could fly into wine glasses so easily....
...and this sums of the some of the best....if there is a moment that is the best of the best in this life...this might be it....the kiddos and friends swimming while the smores fire burns strong at the end of the pool....
...yep, they are lucky...
...but so are we....this little life that we have built might sometimes err on the side of too much fun....too much togetherness...too much love....but that was the vision....that is the dream....
...enjoy every moment that you can...knowing that when you put in the work....take the time to enjoy the rewards and put your family first....
...and that is the mission of 2017....spend the time together, breathe it in...and enjoy.....
