...Branson 2017...

...the coveted Branson trip with Grammie and Papa is one that has happened for quite a few years...and always sneaks up on us and fills us with a renewed love for Southern Missouri...a re connection with nature...the way we like to connect...with log cabins filled with niceties....and rich, scrumptious food choices nearby...oh and a theme park....yep, it's really a roughing it way to connect with nature and each other...

...but this long weekend always manages to get us off our technology....outside and exploring...starting from check in...

...the other thing about this trip is that it is filled with photo opps...around every corner...however my mini crew isn't always ready for a quick photo...sometimes they really protest...in their own ways....

...these personalities...

...but sometimes, amidst a gigantic bass or a lifesized Charlie Brown...they are happy to oblige...

..this is where Grammie grew up...the hills of Southern Mo and she always gets a little sparkle in her eye taking the kids down here...or maybe the sparkle was fear from this ride...I'm thinking the hills....

...Grammie's got the toughest stomach of all of us...she volunteered for the hot air balloon....after the tea cups...

...and amidst a theme park on a chilly fall day to keep the crowds down...there were smiles beyond compare...
...this trip is perfectly situated during the school fall break...which is the weekend before halloween and allows for a dress rehearsal complete with candy, smores and a bonfire to work out the kinks of the costumes before the big night...
...or just to give mom's and grammie's a little extra anxiety that something will rip, stain or break with the costume that's been anticipated for so very long...

...speaking of photo opps...there is so much to love about long walks, in between whines of course, with reconnecting and sharing hopes and ideas for the future...or just the afternoon...
...chasing the elusive trout in the kids fishing competition...that three years in hasn't netted one fish...for any participants...but it's always a sunny morning and worth the views to give it a try...

...we don't lose for lack of trying...we've tried full worms, half worms and the most disgusting combo of worm bits...I've got to hand it to Grammie and Kirk...they are teaching the kids how it is done...
...I'm more content to preoccupy this guy with a photo or a leaf to toss in the water versus a hook...or rent a boat and get on the open water...
...this day afforded us a view on our return to the marina of an awesome Bald Eagle...

...memories literally start here in the lobby...at the tinker tot table...

...thank you Grammie and Papa for another great trip to Branson and for a tradition that reconnects us with each other, the outdoors and all things cozy....

...xoxoxo until next time...
