...St. Patrick's Day...

I may have mentioned once or twice that this house doesn't need much excuse for a celebration...well, St. Patrick's Day is no slouch in the holiday department here...Since the holiday calls for Corned Beef and I have quite a meat connoisseur here, we have experimented over the years with the best recipe...and at the end of the St. Pats weekend, I can officially say my mom's boiled then baked recipe takes the cake...

...but we had some fun last weekend to catch up on first...like Birthday parties with friends from school...Carter is his self declared best friend but there are lots of other friends...and he is starting to really getting into the Birthday circuit...especially since we are going to fun new places with almost every one of them lately..
...this is the BFF and he is the one that cracks me up on most morning drop offs, like last week when we walked in and he said, 'Good Morning Chase, I was missing you!'...they have matching shoes and apparently it makes them the fastest in the class when they run at gym...or at least that is the side of the story that I hear...

...and this is the whole clan...the 'Hummingbird' group waiting patiently for the instructions on lunch and cake...
...I have to hand it to the workers at these facilities, they corral a group of 3-4 year olds and keep things organized for pictures, eating and fun which is no simple task...

...and Mommy and Daddy tag teamed a sick day this week when Ava got pink eye...and it is contagious for 24 hours so she has to stay home...and while changing the schedules around is tough...a play day with this little one makes it all worth while...
...and that right eye is looking so much better now...
...and sooner than later it was the weekend and time to get our St. Patty's on...so we loaded up the crew and went to our first parade with the kiddos...we were playing it by ear with their health and the weather and both were right on the line of 'should we or shouldn't we'...so we did we often do and pushed the limits and no one was upset...in fact, it was a day they will talk about for quite some time...we met up with our friends and secured the perfect spot...
...and waited for the parade to begin while munching hot dogs, lunchables, cookies, cupcakes, juice boxes and a little Guinness for the adults...

...and we waited and waited until the show finally began...

...and then we waved and watched and yelled and ate...

...until we couldn't wear any more beads, dance any more steps and eat any more suckers...

...and then it was time to pack up, head home and thaw our toes...but what a way to see a parade for the first time...thanks Jay and Chelle for the invite, we had a blast...and we will have green beads for years...

...so when Chase woke up on the actual St. Patrick's Day...his only request was that we go to a parade...and when we explained that wasn't an option, he decided to take his cozy coupe and pretend he was a parade float throwing beads and candy to all of the children...his imagination is so much fun...

...speaking of, we have swapped out books before bedtime lately for a game of 'I spy' which he has just learned to play...and he knows how much he can make us laugh by starting his turn with, 'I spy with my one little eye...' and I am not convinced that we are really guessing what he spied...but he gets it enough to play and these new games are so much fun...

...so we spent the actual St. Patrick's Day working on the final corned beef recipe which was the best...a little furniture shopping which is always comical when the whole clan goes, all I can say is that I truly apologize if you were at Ashley Furniture today...after-church donuts which is becoming a tradition...lunch with a bagpiper...some speaker phone time catching up with Bambi and declaring swimming plans for our upcoming visit...and then we feasted with Gramma and Papa on the beef, fresh lime pie and green cupcakes...

...the diet begins tomorrow...

...but until then we will lick our fingers savoring every moment...because it is oh so sweet...

May your blessings outnumber
The shamrocks that grow,
And may trouble avoid you
Wherever you go.
