...Summer Adventures...
...our annual Hilton Head trip was the week before the wedding of cousin Kimberly and Jesse in Philadelphia so the travel planning began early in the year to make a 10 day trip full of beach time, planes, cars and more planes, family reunions and lots of adventures...
...so we picked up a mini van on Wednesday adn set the alarm for 4pm...and we left Hilton Head in the dark....and started up the coast...we had our sights set on Washington DC by nightfall...
....and we pushed it hard...stopped only for meals and bathroom breaks...and once to clean up the puke...but we made it to DC early and getting out of the car brought smiles to all five of our faces...
...Kirk has fond memories of his trip as a kid to DC to explore history...and although the kids were still a little young to understand...it was awesome to have Kirk as our tour guide..
...we packed a lot into less than 24 hours...and one of our favorite things is spending the night in a hotel room together...the five of us...we like to explore...even the bedside tables...
...and after dinner we watch tv together and talk and snuggle...until we are done...my conversations must not have been too entertaining...
...when I opened my eyes the next morning...I thought I could feel someone watching me so I snapped this picture in the dark...and the flash illuminated this little dude...Kirk called him 'whack a mole'...too funny....
...and a short four hours later and we were all together at last....

...the rehearsal was on a lovely farm...complete with hayrides and ice cream cones...
...perfect for everyone in the family...
...one of my fav's that Daddy snapped...
...and the hotel set up was perfect...our room was right on top of the outdoor gathering area so the adults got to spend some time catching up also...
...and speaking of adventures...Daddy and Uncle Chad had a plan for a 'cheesesteak challenge' and a visit to the Rocky Steps...so we loaded up the car and headed into the city...
...it was a beautiful day for sightseeing...
...this guy got a new nickname on the trip...Cheesesteak Willy...and he loves the name and the cheesesteaks...
...and then it was time for a beautiful gathering...outdoors...perfect weather...truly a storybook wedding complete with the gorgeous bride...
...and with that the whirlwind was done...we had a quick brunch and some photo opportunities with our cousins organized by Bambi...
...and after all that...traveling commercial with flight connections seemed like such a chore...
...but when that is the trouble...you know life is so very good...so we spent the evening in the Chicago airport...toasting Daddy for Fathers Day...recounting 10 days of bliss...and saying goodbye to a great trip...
