...our favorite day of the year...
...when we thinking about January it isn't always with wild enthusiasm...but there are some highlights that come every year...and I've been thinking a lot about positive attitude and the choices we make...and life is truly about turning the lemons into lemonade...so when it is cold and dreary around here, we chose to focus on the highlights...like spirit week at our Goddard School...
...sports day and Disney day are so easy in this house...
...and Wacky Wednesday was a fun first for us...
...I am loving getting ready in the morning with my crew...our nanny, Ms. Jordyn, graduated and found a great position using her degree and finished with us last week...so Mommy and Daddy have stepped up and switched schedules and I am sure it will wear off but it is going quite well...
...they know what they have to do to get ready and we know to plan a little extra time...
...another highlight is the day we call 'our favorite day of the year'...the STL boat show...and while it isn't quite what others on the coasts might have...it is our reminder in January that boating season will be here before we know it...and this party of five is always up for that reminder...
...and 'our favorite day of the year' always ends with a great meal at Charlie Gitto's downtown...and some toasty rabioli's as this guy is calling them...
...another highlight is the talent show for Kehrs Mill Elementary and this is Chase's second year participating...it is crazy...about 500+ people...40 acts...and really, really bright lights...and he jumps at the chance...for two years in a row now and he claims he wants to do it again next year...I asked Ava as she watched if she would be in the talent show next year...to which she replied...NO way Mom!...
...these five danced their hearts out to September from the Trolls movie...
....Hidden Valley is another highlight...it is a man made snow hill only 20 minutes from home...and Momma got the brilliant idea to suit everyone up and hit the tubing hill....
...and shockingly the two big smiles above were the two reasons I stood in line waiting for a refund on the tubing pass...they were terrified once we reached the top and the only way to stop the tears was to walk down the hill instead...
...so we did...but Momma and Daddy both got some time to ride with the thrill seeker...
...another highlight of January is trying out healthier recipes and Kirk hit a home run with this one...Mahi Mahi in a lemon basil vinagrette...
...and perhaps the best highlight is the quiet moments like these...
... where my middle is sharing, loving and the baby is enjoying the moment...
...yep, January isn't so bad around here...and I love that this blog reminds me to reflect and soak up the moments of this little slice of happily ever after...
