...hello autumn...
...Ava has been telling me the last few weeks...Mom, it's autumn...and while I usually call it Fall...I'll call it whatever if it means that the humidity will decrease and the home construction project will finally come to an end...plus...it's my favorite season of decorations...
...but bringing in autumn hasn't been easy...or maybe closing out summer...either way...this year has been awfully wet and the recent thunderstorms have come conveniently at bedtime...so when it happens multiple nights in a row and Momma/Daddy want a good night of sleep...you improvise...and make a big family sleepover...
...because amazingly they sleep through storms just fine when they are in our room or our bed...
...and this year has started our 'little blue' in his first hockey program...
...his progress in hockey is kind of like swimming has been for the kids...zero to great in about two months time...it's crazy how good he can skate...I think he could beat him Mom now...and he is still not even 7...
...and hockey is his passion...he asks about it, dreams about it, and jumps in anywhere there is hockey...even if he knows no one...
...and speaking of passions...this one has been doing handstands in the yard ever since spending time with an older neighbor this summer...so we've started our first session of gymnastics...it wasn't an easy thing to convince her to get started...but she is loving it now...and her handstands and cartwheels have never looked better...
...she gets the chance weekly to practice bars and beam also and the coaches have been great...
...autumn also means jeep rides to get ice cream...
...and it means working off those ice cream calories...kidding kidding...but seriously...these are the two best work out buddies in town...
...and speaking of working out...we got the chance to do a run for the kids of St. Jude's and spend some time with an old friend in the process...so good to spend some time with Courtney and her sweet babes over some sweat...
...we are lucky that they don't close the pool in Grafton until it gets really cold...because we are fall boaters and this fall didn't snap as early as some...so hot boat days call for cannonballs to cool off...
...these sweet boaters on a Sunday morning make me smile...
...and we got a chance to sneak in a Birthday party in between all this other fun...with some of Ava's besties...
...and we snuck in a little shopping too...I like buying her clothes and shoes way more than I should...
...so welcome autumn...take away the heat...get rid of the storms and the humidity and certainly the stress of this never ending home construction...but keep the days plentiful of memories made with our sweet, crazy, chaotic, imperfect but oh so perfect little family...
...because even an hour after bedtime has me longing for one more conversation...one more talk with my oldest about something he's been dreaming about...or one more laugh from something the littlest will hit us with out of nowhere (like Momma, let's do a pwotty twain on Tuesday...)...or one more read thru of Ava's latest kindergarten reader all by herself...or another snuggle with all three of them that starts sweetly and usually ends in a sweaty pile of power struggles....yep, always wanting just a little more...
...because there is never quite enough of this little life...that's so much bigger than I ever dreamed...
